Minutes of the March 10th Meeting of the 45th Reunion Committee

A very productive group of committee members lined up a few more details for the 45th Reunion of Hartford Union High School's "Class of '62."

The 45th Reunion of
the "Class of '62......"
1- will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2007, (HUHS's Homecoming Weekend),
2- and will be held at The Iron Ridge Inn Restaurant in Iron Ridge, Wisconsin (scroll down to earlier posts on this blog site to see restaurant & motel information, including the web site for both facilities),
3- will have a gathering/social time of 5:00 PM and a dining time of 6:30 PM,
4- hopes to have Mr. Schlieve moderate the event,
5- hopes to have Mr. Rudersdorf entertain us with his background music of "Oldies" tunes
plus have him host the "giveaway" entertainment,
6- and hopes to have Ms. Raschka entertain us with a power point show of classmate-
contributed photos,
Other topics discussed included......
7- Mr. Dillon & Mr. Rudersdorf's plan to review classmates' addresses, phone numbers & email addresses to update our database,
8- Mr. Dillon & Mr. Rudersdorf's plan to contact each classmate by phone to give them a "heads up" about the reunion and to obtain more email addresses,
9- The two entree items selected for the meal are "Beef Tenderloin Tips in Gravy" and "Chicken Cordon Bleu" (which we think was what we selected back in 2002) which is served "family style" after attendees go through a salad buffet line,
10- "vegetable" is the same green beans in a white sauce we had in 2002 (with an inquiry to the restaurant about the cost of a second vegetable (corn),
11- "starch" is the same mashed potatoes we had in 2002 (with an inquiry to the restaurant about the cost of a second starch (rice or baked potatoes),
12- a bigger name tag was proposed to allow for the addition of a couple of extra details about the classmate's and spouse's current life and new interests,
13- a "Friday schedule" will be added to the invitation to include the following optional events:
12 noon lunch at Hammerin' Hanks, 1:00 PM viewing of the homecoming parade at Hanks, 5:00 PM "friday-night-fish-fry" at the Hartford Golf Club, pre-game gathering at the HUHS "Alumni Tent," and attendance at the 7:00 PM football game (with the RSVP for the fish fry going to Ms. Raschka)
14- Saturday Pre-Reunion events, if any, have yet to be determined,
15- table decorations are still under discussion and may include old photos on display holders and/or seasonal hardy mums
16- invitations (with a questionnaire) will be mailed on July 15th with a response deadline of August 15th; mailing to include a SASE,
17- after the August 15th deadline, follow-up calls or postcards will be made/sent to the potential one-third of the classmates who do not respond (to at least obtain a little information for the remembrance booklet),
18- HUHS's Alumni coordinator will be contacted about adding our 45th reunion information to the high school's web site in the "Alumni Section,"
19- Cost per person was discussed at length with a final conclusion that $26. per person would be the "best fit" with possible excess funds being used for "a little" seed money for the 50th Reunion and some little stacks of money tied in a bow as additional "giveaway" items,
20- rather than attempt to provide "giveaway" items for every attendee, a number of nicer (?) gifts or combinations of gifts would be lined up by donation and purchase,
21- "giveaway" donations to date include: a-multiple Wisconsin Dells coupons/gifts, b-a bottle of wine from France, c-a bottle of whiskey from Ireland, d-a Silver Dollar valued at $13+, e- a piece of "Harley Davidson" gear, f-a copy of the documentary movie, "Fastwalkers," which has in it a brief interview with classmate, Marie Therese Reis' husband, Charles.
22- NEXT REUNION COMMITTEE MEETING IS SCHEDULED FOR MAY 5, 2007, HIGH NOON, AT "THE MOVIE GRILL" RESTAURANT, JACKSON.

Please email your comments, suggestions, new ideas, concerns to help us develop a "fun-time-for-all" at the 45th Reunion of HUHS's "Class of '62."

We Don't Care If You Have To Crawl---

but please try to make it to the second meeting of the 45th Reunion Committee of the "Class of '62" to be held on Saturday, March 10th, high noon, at "The Movie House Grill" (the former Sario's on the northwest corner of Highways 60 & 45, just west of Jackson).
But, in case you can't make it, please check back at this blog site for the minutes of that meeting and then email in any suggestions or ideas that come to mind after reading about our plans.

Yeeeh Haw!

We now have 46 email addresses from our "Class of '62" classmates!

Classmates were kind enough
to share their email address at
the 40th Reunion back in 2002
or by submitting it for the Hartford Union High School Alumni Directory or sent in the address to our 45th Reunion Committee members &
blog site.

Now we'll be able to communicate better and save money on postage too.

SO, CAN YOU HELP
AND SEND IN MORE
"EMAIL ADDRESSES?"

There are around 150 classmates still with us, so there should be more addresses out there in cyberspace. Maybe other family members can "loan" their address for a classmate to use off & on?

JUST EMAIL THE ADDRESSES TO classof62hartford@yahoo.com

Thanks. (P.S. Appears to be no cavities on this guy's lower set of teeth. Good dental hygiene!)

Next Meeting of the 45th Reunion Committee Meeting is Coming Up on March 10th

Saturday, March 10th, high noon, is the date for the next meeting of the 45th Reunion Committee at the Movie House Grill (the former Sario's), just west of Jackson, on the northwest corner of Highways 60 & 45 (near Culver's and M&I Bank).

Our 45th Reunion may be 240 days away, but in just one month the reunion committee has its second meeting.

We'll be trying out our new "harmonic convergence of the minds" by lying in a circle with our heads strategically placed to carry out planning telepathically---as shown in the photo above---while we continue to eat, drink & talk boldly.

Please come for the "harmony" and other stuff. We can use all the help we can get.

"Hey, you! About those motel reservations..."

If you're already planning on attending the 45th Reunion of the "Class of '62" and coming from out-of-town, please don't wait too long to make reservations for the "Iron Ridge Inn Motel" right behind the Iron Ridge Inn Restaurant.
They're at www.ironridgeinn.com , 920-387-4090, & toll free at 877-387-4090.
The weekend of our 45th Reunion is also something called "Audubon Days" in the near-by areas of Mayville and Horicon ("Horicon Marsh" activities?), so things might get booked up rather quickly.
If you are tardy, in Hartford you also have the AmericInn http://www.americinn.com/ (800-396-5007) and a Super 8 http://www.super8.com (800-800-8000), both located on East Sumner about a half mile east of the hospital.
Hope to see you there! ("We'll keep a light on for you....")

The Iron Ridge Inn Restaurant is selected as the location for the 45th Reunion of the "Class of '62"

On Saturday, October 6, 2007, the 45th Reunion of the "Class of '62" will be held at
The Iron Ridge Inn Restaurant at 131 Main Street, Iron Ridge, Wisconsin.
(We've had our last two reunions there and find them to be reasonably-priced and very accommodating.)
Gathering times, costs and "pre-reunion," optional events for the Friday afternoon Homecoming Parade & Friday evening Homecoming Game are being worked out by the reunion committee.
Check out the restaurant and next door motel by clicking on their web site address--
Motel reservations for one of their 18 standard rooms is $65. and for one of their two whirlpool rooms is $79. (Call 920-387-4090 or toll-free at 877-387-4090 for reservations.)

Just like in the real estate business--- it's LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION

One of our reunion committee members was so worried about not being able to get the location of our choice for the 45th Reunion of the "Class of '62" that a special "email meeting" was requested.
(It wasn't just paranoia, since we had to change the date of our 2002 reunion due to late booking. Plus, the homecoming weekend might be a popular time for other reunions, like the Class of '57's 50th reunion on October 13th of this year.)
So, committee members were kind enough to humor the concerned member and held a virtual meeting that gave information about various facilities, menus and locations with a request to select the best available place.
AND THE WINNER for the location of the 45th Reunion of the "Class of '62" IS:
The Iron Ridge Inn Restaurant, Iron Ridge, Wisconsin.
See additional blog postings for more information about this location.
