George Kress - December 5, 1943 to April 6, 2011 - R.I.P.
The Reunion Committee has heard from Classmate Dick Indermuehle that our Classmate George Kress has died.
Those wishing to "sign a guestbook" or "send a sympathy card" online can go to the Krueger Family Funeral Home in Tomahawk, Wisconsin, at their URL address:
http://www.kruegerfamilyfuneral.com/
(then "click" on George's name to view his obituary and find the "guest book" and "sympathy card" sources).
George and his wife, Sue, could not make our 45th "Class of '62" Reunion back in 2007, but he sent the following message:
"I'll be retiring in March of 2008 from Harley-Davidson where I'm head of shipping. My
wife, Sue, runs a supper club in Tomahawk, called 'Shady Sue's.' Tomahawk's population
is 4000---just like Hartford was when we were in high school. When I retire I'll help Sue
at the supper club, but only as a mop boy. Tomahawk is only about a 3-hour drive from
Hartford, so you're welcome to 'eat & meet' at our supper club."
George's obituary reads as follows:
"George J. Kress, Jr., age 67, 218 Hillcrest Drive, Tomahawk [WI, 54487], died
unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday, April 6, 2011.
George was born December 5, 1943 in Hartford, the son of George and Fern (Warner)
Kress, Sr. He married Susan Schoen on October 22, 1992 in Merrill. George was employed
in the shipping department at Harley-Davidson in Tomahawk for 20 years. He was known
for his dry sense of humor, and was a self-proclaimed "staff supervisor" at Shady Sue's,
and everywhere he went. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, was an avid football
fan, and had a special love of animals.
Survivors include: Wife, Sue Kress, Tomahawk, Mother, Fern Warner, Mayville, Son,
George Kress, III, Beaver Dam, Daughter, Katie Van Strydonk, Madison, Sisters, Karen
(Dick) Madell, Hartford, Nancy (Jack) Schoebel, Hustisford, Kay (Harold, 'Red')
Schladweiler, Kewaskum, Grandson, Kody Kress.
A Mass of Christian Burial with Military Rites for George Kress, Jr., will be held at 5:00
p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2011 from St. Mary Catholic Church in Tomahawk. Fr. John
Anderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from
2:00 p.m. until the hour of Mass at 5:00 p.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery at a later

Rest in peace, George. We will all remember and pray for you again next year at the 50th Reunion of the "Class of 62."
